When I left, I've noticed how this area has changed. What used to be an abandoned and negelected part of town is now covered by expensive apartment buildings everywhere, some with quite weird architecture.

well...is this picture pure B&W or sephia?
or is there any additional touch on it??
bravo picture, nice effect
Z., all the pictures were actually shot in colour. I've only added a sepia effect with some noise. A nice program for that is Mediachance BWorks, at http://www.mediachance.com
This is the Expo area, right? Parque das Nações and the area around it, isn't it?
Well, I have no ideia how was it before the Expo98, but I heard a lot about the renovation on tv. And I guess it's a good to know that degradated areas can actually improve so much becoming "fancy" areas! :)
They do that here too, and the transformation from poorest, most rundown neighborhoods to the most upscale, expensive ones is sometimes pretty amazing.
In Minneapolis especially, there are many old warehouses, factories, and commerical buildings that have been transformed into very high end condo's and apartments.
I love to see them using the resources that are already here rather than tearing them down to build new. I always wanted to live in an old factory/loft.
Beautiful pictures, as usual :)
Peace,

Yups, Metallyptica, Parque das Nações. Believe me, you would not want to know what kind of place it was a decade ago. Hippy... Minneapolis... For most of us such names are stuff of movies... Like Kansas City, Philadelphia, New Orleans :))) Thank you all for the encouraging comments. Hugs
