J. sends more pictures from the trip to Cape Verde, a former Portuguese colony, halfway between Africa, Europe and America. This map shows its location.

View to the downtown, Hotel do Chiado.

A view to the Baixa Pombalina, an area rebuilt after our major earthquake of 1755.

In case any of you guys ever comes to Lisbon, you may try to stay in a wonderful hotel in the Chiado area - the Hotel do Chiado. It is located in the downtown, has a stunning decoration and, above all, a cafe, restaurant and a hanging garden in its top floor. I was there a few days ago and took these pictures.

A painting, maybe in J.'s hotel at Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde.

Cidade da Praia, Cape Verde

J. went to Africa for a few weeks (a research project), and sends this picture from the remote islands of Cape Verde, in the middle of the Atlantic.

Sunset, Av. Gago Coutinho.

Sunset today...

J. just came. Before leaving, I took a picture of the huge arches in the station, which was conceived by Santiago Calatrava, a well known Spanish architect.

Inside the train station...

It's almost midnight...

Actually, you can hardly call these drops of water proper rain... It's night and I'm heading to the train station to pick up J.

Left the car home again today. I'm walking down Av. Rio de Janeiro, with no umbrella!

It's raining... And people talk about it once again. Few people have any memory of such a dry winter. Almost six months an no rain.

Hanging garden, Graça.

A colour picture for a change... Our own "Golden Gate" bridge, the Ponte 25 de Abril, that connects Lisbon to the South.

My hometown of Almada in on the other side of the river, which is two kms wide here. It seems closer seen through the lens.

On my right side, a view to the Tagus and one of the city's most typical neighbourhoods.
